Switching Incentive Regime Feedback
Ofgem introduced the Switching Incentive Regime in April 2023, a performance incentive regime for the Data Communication Company (DCC) for its roles in delivering the Switching arrangements to the retail energy market. RECCo is required to assess the Customer Engagement measure of this regime and users’ satisfaction with the service, and to do this, we require feedback from Retail Energy Code (REC) switching parties. If you’re a REC Party involved in Switching, look out for your invitation to submit your feedback in later this month.
REC June 2024 REC Release Drop-in Session
The Code Manager is hosting the June 2024 REC Release Drop-in Session on 11 June 2024 (13:00 – 14:00) to provide an overview of the planned changes within the scope the June 2024 (3.11.0) REC Release taking place on 28 June 2024. The session will provide information on the impacts of the changes and provide you with an opportunity ask your questions direct to the Code Manager.

Emergency 3rd Amendment to BS 7671 Wiring Regulations
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has issued an emergency 3rd amendment to BS 7671, which will be open for public comment from May 8th onwards.

R0094 – CLARIFY OBLIGATIONS ON GAS METER EXCHANGES THAT OCCUR CLOSE TO COS
The proposal was issued by RECCo for consultation on 09 May and suggests some new obligations for MAMs. The circumstances are where a meter exchange has been done close to a change of supplier (CoS) event. This is likely to become more common with faster switching.
Approval of CP1594 for Implementation on 27 June 2024
On 7 May 2024, the Supplier Volume Allocation Group (SVG) and Imbalance Settlement Group (ISG) approved BSC Change Proposal (CP) CP1594 ‘Creating an Approval Process for New and Legacy Communication Types’ for implementation on 27 June 2024 as part of the standard June 2024 Release. Read more

On 08 May 2024, the Metering Expert Panel voted to approve Change Proposal R0150 – Onsite Aggregation as a Method to Facilitate Third Party Access (BSC P455), subject to BSC Modification P455 being approved. Read more
Central Products List (CPL) Version v3.004 01/05/2024 now published on SEC Website
Please note, Version 3.004 of the Central Products List (CPL) is now available. The new workbook can be downloaded here.

- One SMETS2 GSME and three SMETS1 PPMIDs added.
SEC Section F2.9 ‘Publication and Use by the DCC’
Subject to the requirements of the CPL Requirements Document, the DCC shall, from time to time, use and rely upon the Central Products List most recently received by the DCC from the Panel at that time, provided that the DCC shall be allowed up to 24 hours from receipt to make any modifications to the Smart Metering Inventory that are necessary to reflect the updated Central Products List.
As per the above, SEC Section F2.9 is now in effect.
Code Roadmap Relaunch
The REC are pleased to announce the refreshed version of the REC Code Roadmap is now available. It presents the priority work items that the REC Code Manager is delivering now and in the near future that are resulting, or could result, in changes to the REC.
