The Association of Meter Operators (AMO) and the Energy Networks Association (ENA) have joined forces to launch the inaugural AMO/ENA Bilateral Working Group, a new collaborative forum designed to strengthen ties between meter operators and network operators across Great Britain.
The Working Group aims to foster open dialogue, address shared industry challenges, and promote best practices, with a strong focus on enhancing coordination and communication between all parties involved in energy metering and network operations. The initiative also welcomes participation from other relevant bodies, to ensure a broad range of expertise and perspectives are represented.
Key Objectives
The AMO/ENA Bilateral Working Group is committed to:
- Identifying and addressing common issues related to service points.
- Sharing and promoting industry best practices.
- Enhancing communication and coordination between meter and network operators.
- Supporting the development of consistent and efficient industry processes.
Meetings will be held twice a year, alternating hosts between AMO and ENA, and co-chaired by representatives from both organisations.

The first meeting, held at Talan, London, brings together industry leaders to discuss a range of critical topics, including:
- Service point best practice
- Fuse management
- Tails (25mm uprating and 16mm reduction)
- Meter relocation
- STIRG Document
- Asset condition reporting
- Continuous improvement and methodology
- Minor interventions
- Neutral current diversions
- Testing & best practice
- Emerging DNO policies
The group is dedicated to continuous improvement, with annual reviews of its Terms of Reference to ensure evolving priorities and operational needs are addressed.
