The Radio Teleswitch Service (RTS) is set to end on June 30, 2025. This service uses radio signals to switch some electricity meters between peak and off-peak rates. The shutdown means that homes and businesses using RTS meters will need to upgrade to smart meters to avoid disruptions to their heating and hot water systems.
Ofgem, along with energy suppliers and other stakeholders, has formed the RTS Taskforce to support consumers through this transition. They are working to ensure all RTS meters in Great Britain are upgraded before the service ends.
