Smart meters are next-generation gas and electricity meters. They can
usually be installed where your existing meters are. As well as being
available at no upfront cost, they offer a number of benefits over
traditional meters. There is lots of independent information available
online to explain the benefits and outline the few circumstances where a
smart meter might not currently be available.

AMO members work closely with energy suppliers and other partners
across the energy sector to ensure that whenever possible, consumers are
able to receive the benefits of having smart meters.

Through our technical groups we actively contribute to development of
best practice and seek to resolve issues that get in the way of efficient
installation.

AMO members operate in accordance with all relevant technical and
safety standards and also comply with the code of practice for smart
meter installations.
